LCCH begins free tax preparation January 29th.
The Licking County
Coalition for Housing (LCCH) offers free tax preparation services from January
29th through April 14, 2015. The
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program uses IRS-certified volunteers to
prepare and e-file federal, state and school district tax returns for
income-eligible citizens, at no cost to them.
Taxes are prepared
at 4 locations in Licking County: the LCCH offices at 23 South Park Place, Ohio
Means Jobs at 998 East Main St., Warner Library on the Newark Campus, and the
Newark Public Library at 101 West Main St. The days/hours vary by location, but
afternoon, evening and week-end appointments are available, as well as a
limited number of walk-in sites.
Most taxpayers with
an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $53,000 or less are eligible. Farm income,
rental income and some advanced tax issues cannot be handled at a VITA site.
Photo ID and Social Security cards are required from all taxpayers, as well as
W-2s and other tax documents. Both
taxpayers must be present for a joint return.
Beginning January 15th,
tax payers can call LCCH at 740-345-1970, extension 200 to schedule an
appointment. Recorded information is also available at extension 224, and the
VITA schedule is on the calendar page of the LCCH website: www.lcchousing.org
This is the eighth
year that Licking County Coalition for Housing has offered this free service to
Licking County. LCCH is a United Way
Partner Agency and a 501c3 non-profit organization registered with the State of
Ohio. Funding for the program is provided by State Farm, United Way of Licking
County, the Internal Revenue Service, and United Way of Central Ohio.
